My name is Amanda and I am the founder of Coachella Valley Music Therapy. I graduated with a Bachelors in Music Therapy from Western Illinois University and a Masters in Music Therapy with an emphasis on counseling from Maryville University in Saint Louis, MO. I have a passion for helping those who are living with Autism, Developmental Disabilities, Alzheimers/Dementia, Parkinson’s and recovery from a stroke. Nothing fills me with more joy than when I get to see my clients living life to its fullest, improving their quality of life, and growing in their goals we set forth to work on.
I have worked in acute psych at Oasis Rehabilitation Center in Indio, CA, in a memory care neighborhood at Provision Living in Saint Louis, MO, and in a public school district in Saint Louis, MO working with kids in the special needs programs. I am now providing the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs area with Music Therapy services since 2014.
Since music therapy has started I have noticed she has increased her language development. I would recommend music therapy because it brings a positive approach to therapy. I especially like that it focused on the growth of my daughter and her IEP. I would recommend it to anyone.
Amanda creates a warm and exciting atmosphere. Her smiles and eye contact, along with her program, leave everyone feeling relaxed and included. I was surprised at the level of response from all the residents! I would definitely recommend CVMT. The facility my husband is at provides daily musical engagement with performances but music therapy is an approach unlike all the others.
